Training blocks are the key to overload the body, but they type of training block depends upon the energy system that you are training, your current fitness level, and how you recover from workouts, etc...  Absolutely over training can happen if you don&#039;t rest.  You don&#039;t get better unless you rest, since you don&#039;t getter while training but while resting after training.  
 
I use the 4/1 block when training anaerobic (1 min intervals to exhaustion) and sprinting (5-10 sec sprints).  I will use the 3/2 more often when training VO2 max (3-5 min intervals).  I will use a 1/1 when training LT (20-30 min).

Could you give examples of workouts that you would typically do on hard days and easy days during a 3/2 or 4/1 block? What exactly do you mean by hard? And how easy is easy? I am a bit concerned about the possibility of overtraining, especially in a 4/1 block.
